All Aboard!
Commuter Holiday Party Was a Huge Success!
Over 100 people attended the annual Holiday Party held on Train 730 on
December 14th. In case you missed the mother of all train parties this year,
the hors d'ouevres were delicious and plentiful and we're already planning for
Holiday Train Party 2001! Gene Skoropowski, Managing Director of the Capitol
Corridor Joint Powers Authority, and his staff were on board to join us in the
festivities. Gene made a special request for an additional car for the evening
-- the added space was much appreciated! We hope everyone had a chance to meet
Gene and his staff and thank them for taking time out of their busy schedules
to celebrate with us.
Special recognition and thanks to Kim and Chuck Hancock for organizing the
extravaganza, preparing the decorations, and planning every detail to make the
party enjoyable for all! We also extend our appreciation to Marty DeVault and
Pupla (Pushpraj) Goswami for generously donating a case of champagne. Marty
served as the party Finance Manager and did a super job. Other riders helped
by picking up and loading food, decorating the cars, taking photographs, and
cleaning up -- thank you to all!
We will be posting photographs of the party on the website soon, courtesy
of Jack Arboleda. Just a few party scenes that might be posted -- Tom from
Davis with the reindeer antlers, Margaret enlightening party-goers in Car No.

e-mail). E-mail addresses will be used to send out special meeting
announcements and reminders of train events. All registered users will also be
able to send group e-mail to fellow commuters. We do not engage in spam. Go to
the bottom of the page and register with ListBot.

Capitol Corridor Makes Front Page of the Sac Bee!
The May 9 Sacramento Bee carried a front page article on Capitol Corridor
ridership. A number of regulars were interviewed. See Capitol
Corridor train ridership rockets.
Amtrak Capitol Web Site
Amtrak now has a web site for the Capitols:
http://www.amtrakcapitols.com/.
Along with basic information on destinations, schedules, and fares, there is a
page describing the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority, which manages the
Capitols. You can find contact information for the CCJPA here.
Amtrak Bus Service
We should continue to monitor the bus
situation and report problems to Dick Bush of Amtrak at BushD@amtrak.com or
amtrakbus@aol.com and copy Jay Commer at UJCC@amtrak.com If you have any
positive comments regarding service improvements or outstanding bus drivers,
please also let them know.
